Study on Efficacy and Safety of Terbinafine Vs. Itraconazole in the Treatment of Tinea Pedis

Background: Tinea pedis is a dermatophytosis of the feet usually occurs between toes with webspace fourth and fifth digits but, in many cases, may appear as an extensive pattern on bottom sides feet. Terbinafine itraconazole were evaluated efficacy/effectiveness toxicity systemic treatment compared each other. Objective: To compare efficacy safety terbinafine vs. treating tinea pedis.
 Materials Methods: A total 50 patients selected, they divided into groups (group-A group B), which included 25 patients. Group was given oral 250 mg daily for two weeks. B Itraconazole 200mg same duration. Patients observed side effects trial medicines. baseline complete blood picture, liver renal function test, urine analysis done repeated frequently during therapy.
 Results: Most decade both groups, male-to-female ratio almost 4:1. Two people studied: group-A 200 14 days. Evaluated weekly 02 weeks after cessation therapy, finally 08th week to see clinical improvement adverse effects. The response found chronic hyperkeratotic type: 08/08, 08/08; interdigital 07/07, 07/06; vesico-bullous 06/05, 06/05; Mixed 04/03, 03/02 group-B respectively. On average, 92% 84% B. had nausea (20.0%) followed by 08% diarrhea A. other hand, B, most (28.0%), 4.0% fatigue diarrhea, only 01 patient elevated enzyme but did not exceed upper limit. 80% transient, mild moderate nausea.
 Conclusion: No significant differences groups. represent good alternative Pedis who cannot take or available drugs due contraindications.
